President Joe Biden’s late-night speech at last week’s Democratic National Convention (DNC) was the last act in a play of Democratic infighting that has left Biden and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi bitter enemies. After his speech, an angry tirade against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in which he repeated several hoaxes about the former president, Biden appeared shaken and had difficulty getting off Air Force One when the plane landed in California.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the speech not only marked his parting words to the Democratic faithful, but the convention itself may have marked an irreparable split between himself and Pelosi, whom Biden had already said had pushed him out of the Democratic presidential race in a national interview.

The Monday night speech itself had not gone well as he was scheduled to speak at 10:30 p.m. but didn’t begin till well after 11 and when he was finished after midnight, so was much of the television audience. Much of the evening had to be abbreviated to even arrange that timing, the Daily Mail noted, adding that it had exclusively uncovered Pelosi’s backstabbing efforts to remove Biden from the presidential campaign by threatening to publicly reveal that she had lost confidence in the president’s ability to run.

A letter, allegedly written and signed by Biden, appeared the following day, announcing his withdrawal from the race. But Pelosi's dictate reportedly infuriated both Joe and Jill Biden and that anger could resonate for the rest of their lives.

But the Biden-Pelosi feud wasn’t the only Democratic internecine conflict raging at the DNC, according to the Mail. The following night, while former President Barack Obama did his best to feign love and admiration for Biden, former First Lady Michelle Obama apparently forgot that a man named Biden was still president and neglected to mention his name once in her speech that celebrated her imagined victimhood as a black woman.

Ignoring Biden was intentional, according to the Mail. She never campaigned for Biden and had no intention of speaking at the DNC if he was still the party candidate. Biden reportedly endorsed Harris with such abandon because he did not want to provide Michelle Obama with the opportunity to seize the moment and become the Democratic candidate.

Barack Obama, the Mail notes, is content to see Vice President Kamala Harris grab the Democratic presidential nomination – just as he was eager to see Biden drop out of the race and reportedly also worked behind the scenes with wealthy and famous Democratic supporters to make that a reality, according to the Mail.

But enjoying it all was Pelosi, who sat in the front row and exalted in Michelle Obama’s speech. Biden was ambiguous when asked if he was angry with Pelosi, simply telling the Mail, “No, I haven't spoken to her.” Pelosi and Harris are two Democrats who don’t get along well either. And the Mail also contends that Biden also endorsed Harris so strongly because Pelosi did want her to be the candidate.
