Earlier today, I talked about the battle against Massachusetts's latest gun control abominations...I'm sorry, I mean "laws." The author of that law claims that it will make people in the state more safe, which is a typical argument for literally any bit of gun control someone wants to put out there.

But there's one massive problem, and that's how the people causing the problems aren't the people who tend to follow laws in general.

See, the state has a massive amount of gun control. You need a license to buy a gun. You need a license to own a gun at all. There are restrictions on magazine capacity and you can't carry a gun in any manner at all without a separate permit. You can't own a so-called assault weapon and you can't get a gun without a background check, even from a non-dealer.

That is, you need all of that to do anything lawfully.

If you don't care about laws, as mentioned before, none of that applies to you.

And some recent arrests in Boston show just how little any of that means to folks who don't.

The arrests began early in the morning when at about 2:11 a.m., the Youth Violence Strike Force apprehended a 15-year-old juvenile male on firearm charges.

The suspect attempted to evade police near Washington Street and Talbot Avenue but was found hiding under a vehicle after discarding a backpack with a P80 Ghost gun.

Later in the morning, at approximately 11:15 a.m., during the Caribbean Festival, Edgard Matos, 18, of Hyde Park, and Breaja Nichols, 23, of Brighton, were arrested after Nichols was found in possession of a firearm and Matos was caught following a pursuit.

Nichols also faced charges for possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs.

In the early afternoon, at about 12:57 p.m., three juveniles were arrested in Mattapan after officers found them with a stolen Ruger 38 Special Snub Nose Revolver and a Glock 22.

The arrests continued at the Caribbean Festival, where at about 2:40 p.m., Avery Coke, 25, of Canton, was apprehended after resisting arrest.

He was found with a Glock 19 equipped to fire automatically.

In total, Boston police recovered nine firearms, many of which were in the hands of minors who can't lawfully buy a gun anywhere at all.

And that last Glock 19 is something pretty much no one can lawfully own anywhere in the nation. 

If gun control laws worked, how did any of these people have firearms in the first place? Especially with the plethora of laws already on the books. 

Further, with regard to the new rules being rolled out, does anyone think these people are going to roll up to a training class in order to get the license they already refused to get in the first place?

Of course not.

But that's the stupidity of gun control for you. It's also why so many people don't believe it's about restricting the actions of bad guys. It never has, so adding more to what's already not working doesn't actually do much of anything except create issues for the law-abiding citizens who just want to own guns lawfully.

It's clear it doesn't stop criminals.
