Eric Verhaeghe of Le Courrier des Strateges gives us information on the kid who is allegedly responsible for this arrest. Well, she’s 30, went to the right university (Sciences Po), is a police commissioner heading a new department to do with sexual and domestic violence, and believes the system is patriarchal (link, browsers will translate):

So the French police dared to arrest Pavel Durov, the little Russian genius who created the secure messaging system Telegram. In his time, Vladimir Putin had thought about it, but backed down… These are scruples that have not stifled Gabrielle Hazan, the young commissioner who heads the Office des Mineurs at the request of the police nomenklatura close to the intelligence services, and who probably intends to serve her career by engaging in this liberticidal act designed to intimidate a free actor. Pavel Durov, the founder of the encrypted Telegram network, commonly used by the Courier (we remind you of our free ongoing feed… which you can join here), was thus arrested by French police yesterday on his arrival at Le Bourget. He was arrested by Ofmin, the Office des Mineurs, headed by the highly political police commissioner Gabrielle Hazan (pictured), for reasons that are as yet unclear. While the Ofmin specializes in the protection of minors, especially against child pornography, the Macron-subsidized press claims that the arrest is linked to accusations of complicity in drug trafficking.

In short, bogus motives have been found (Telegram is home to child pornography, trafficking of all kinds, including drug trafficking, and soon terrorism) to justify an arbitrary measure designed to intimidate the boss of a network that continues to resist surveillance capitalism. …

This all sounds very improbable somewhere.
