Federal judge grants request from Trump to delay classified documents case
Judge Cannon postponed two deadlines for the classified documents case, which could potentially cause a small delay.

Federal judge Judge Aileen Cannon granted former President Donald Trump his request to delay some deadlines so prosecutors could examine the U.S. Supreme Court’s immunity ruling.
Trump’s attorneys on Friday requested that Cannon give them permission to file documents to argue that Trump should be immune from prosecution in the case.
The former president’s team specifically requested a schedule that goes through early September, according to The Hill.
Cannon ruled on Saturday that prosecutors and special counsel Jack Smith have up to July 18 to respond to Trump’s argument, The New York Times reports.
The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 earlier this month that Trump is immune from federal prosecution for some official acts he took while in office, but the justices made clear that there is no immunity for unofficial acts.
Trump’s attorneys also cited Justice Clarence Thomas’s opinion in the Supreme Court decision, questioning Jack Smith’s authority as special counsel.
Cannon postponed two deadlines for the classified documents case, which could potentially cause a small delay.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
