Despite the National Football League’s (NFL) claims that its voter registration effort is “nonpartisan,” it has primarily partnered with left-wing organizations rather than neutral groups.
As reported by Breitbart, the “NFL Votes” webpage claims that its get-out-the-vote (GOTV) effort is a “league-wide, nonpartisan initiative that supports and encourages civic engagement among NFL players, and legends, club and league personnel, and fans.”
Co-sponsored by the NFL Players Association, the campaign “focuses on three key components of the electoral process: voter education, voter registration, and voter activation.”
But among the other partners listed on the NFL’s website are groups such as Rock the Vote, Rise to Vote, Vet the Vote, I Am a Voter, and Voto Latino. All of these groups have histories of promoting left-wing candidates and causes, as well as being founded and run by leftist activists.
Rock the Vote, the oldest of these groups, was founded in 1990 and supported Barack Obama’s candidacy early on, as well as his many left-wing proposals such as Obamacare. Voto Latino, founded in 2013, has ties to Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), one of the most far-left members of Congress. One of the senior advisers to the group is Julian Castro, who served as Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary during the Obama Administration.
In addition to their staffing by and connections to left-wing individuals, these groups have never supported conservative causes, nor have any conservatives or Republicans on their staff. These findings raise questions about whether or not the NFL’s GOTV effort is truly as “nonpartisan” as they claim it to be.
