Following his victory over the invariably tough Maciej Sulecki on Saturday night at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, promoter Eddie Hearn wants Diego Pacheco to fight Jaime Munguia following up.

It’s uncertain if Hearn wants Munguia because he might schedule a match between Pacheco(22-0, 18KOs) and him on DAZN PPV to assist in covering the match’s expenses. Munguia might require a guaranteed purse that is beyond Hearn’s budget, even in the event that it is placed on PPV.

Hearn believes that the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles could easily sell out if Pacheco and Munguia squared off. Nevertheless, it remains doubtful if Hearn can generate sufficient funds to pique Munguia’s interest in that battle.

“It’s very unusual to have a fighter at that age, so good, 23-0 in the world, and I think he has a massive future ahead of him,” said Eddie Hearn in media reports.

Pacheco didn’t exactly put on a spectacular show against the 35-year-old Sulecki (32-3, 12 KOs). When Pacheco used a body shot to halt the Polish fighter in the sixth round, he looked respectable against a veteran fighter.

Regarding Pacheco’s future, Hearn must be realistic since he failed to demonstrate the kind of skill that would indicate he will unseat Canelo Alvarez as the number one fighter at 168. Pacheco would be defeated and made to appear easy by other young opponents.

“I think Munguia is the perfect fight. You’ve got Munguia, a Mexican fighter with big support. You’ve got Diego Pacheco; there was a great atmosphere there tonight. That sells out the Staples Center easy, and it’s such a good fight. A tough fight for Diego,” said Hearn.

“I really fancy it, but it has to be those kinds of fights because we’re [Pacheco] going to get called as the mandatory for the winner of Canelo-Berlanga. We appreciate that’s not going to happen until September 2025. That’s a year’s time. So it’s two more fights, which is fine. It’s perfect timing because when that comes, we’re not turning that down. You’ve got to take it,” added Hearn.
