A 17-year-old boy was busted after bringing a loaded handgun to his Brooklyn high school Thursday morning, cops said sources said.
The teen was going through a metal detector at George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School at Tillary and Bridge streets in Downtown Brooklyn around 8:25 a.m. when school safety agents detected the weapon in his book bag, cops said.
The semi-automatic firearm had nine rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, law enforcement sources said.
The teen was taken into custody, but had not been charged by the late afternoon.
The school, which has about 580 students enrolled, includes “career and technical education pathways” focusing on electrical installation, computer science, culinary skills, information technology, and data science – as well as a STEAM Center, according to its website.
