Former President Donald Trump clapped back at the Biden campaign for posting a video accusing him of freezing up during his speech at the National Rifle Association convention Saturday.
“My Speech in Dallas this weekend at the NRA’s ‘Endorsement of President Donald J. Trump,’ was attended by a Record Crowd of very enthusiastic Patriots,” Mr. Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Sunday.
“The Biden Campaign, however, put out a Fake Story that I ‘froze’ for 30 seconds, going into the ‘Musical Interlude’ section, when in actuality, the 30 to 60 second period of silence is standard in every one of my Speeches where we use the Music. Check out any of my Speeches!” Mr. Trump said.
The post included a video of his speech to highlight the “musical interlude.”
“The reason they came up with this Disinformation is that Biden freezes all the time, can’t put two sentences together, and can rarely find his way off the stage without help,” he wrote. “Donald Trump doesn’t freeze! It is a MADE UP Biden Campaign story, put out in a dying Newspaper that I never heard of, and every Reporter knows it, including the large group that was there.”
The Biden campaign posted a clip of Mr. Trump’s speech on X Saturday.
“Trump starts playing QAnon music during his bizarre slur-filled NRA speech,” the post said.
The Biden campaign called the former president “feeble” in a Friday X post.
“A feeble Trump nearly falls down on stage after he leans on his podium too hard and then goes on an angry rant calling his event workers ‘crappy,’” the post said with another clip from Mr. Trump’s Friday speech in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Mr. Trump shot back in another Sunday X post, saying his “good reflexes and strength, two elements which Joe Biden does not possess,” helped him to stop the podium from falling.
“Crooked Joe is a completely incompetent and corrupt person, even when it comes to putting out a fake story like this,” he said.
At the NRA convention, Mr. Trump talked about whether it would be his second or third term if he wins the White House in November.
“You know, FDR 16 years, almost 16 years, he was four-term. I don’t know, are we going to be considered three-term or two-term?” he asked the audience.
Someone shouted “three” from the crowd.
While there was speculation over whether Mr. Trump would leave the Oval Office peacefully after a second term if he wins, he revealed in an April Time magazine interview that he would serve four more years and be done without challenging the 22nd Amendment, which restricts presidents to two terms.
“I wouldn’t be in favor of it at all. I intend to serve four years and do a great job. And I want to bring our country back. I want to put it back on the right track. Our country is going down. We’re a failing nation right now. We’re a nation in turmoil,” he said in the interview.
