Trump says he is “certainly” on board with appointing “brilliant” RFK Jr. to a position in his administration
Following a recent campaign stop in Michigan, Trump spoke with the press about Kennedy. Trump said "I like him, and I respect him" about Kennedy, adding that he is a "brilliant" and "very smart guy" who Trump has known "for a very long time."
Kennedy recently urged his followers on X to not let the Democratic Party win the election, the implication being that he would rather his supporters vote for Trump as opposed to Vice President Kamala Harris. Now there is talk that Kennedy may drop out of the race entirely and throw his support behind Trump.
"I didn't know he was thinking about getting out," Trump said in response to this suggestion," but if he is thinking about getting out, certainly I'd be open to it."
The media asked Trump a second time if he is really serious about appointing Kennedy to a position within his administration, to which Trump affirmed his previous statement.
"I probably would, if something like that would happen. He's a very different kind of guy – a very smart guy. And, yeah, I would be honored by that endorsement, certainly."

Is Kennedy about to drop out of the race to join forces with Trump?
Kennedy's running mate, Nicole Shanahan, appeared in a podcast interview recently during which she suggested that the campaign is not so sure it will successfully form a new third political party to rival the two primary ones.
"There's two options that we're looking at and one is staying in, forming that new party," Shanahan said, noting that fundraising efforts have not gone as well as the campaign had hoped, not to mention all the attacks by a Democrat-affiliated super PAC.
"But we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and [Tim] Walz presidency because we draw votes from Trump. Or, we walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump and explain to our base why we're making this decision."
One possible job opportunity for Kennedy under Trump is the role of vaccine safety investigator. One of Kennedy's specialties is telling the truth about the dangers and ineffectiveness of vaccines, and Trump has stated on multiple occasions that he, too, has concerns about vaccine safety.
Though the Kennedy family legacy leans more Democratic historically speaking, the Democrat Party of today, especially as it is mutating under a possible Kamala presidency, would be "unrecognizable" to Kennedy's father, Robert "Bobby" Kennedy Sr., as well as to his uncle, President John F. Kennedy.
Kennedy revealed that after speaking with Trump post-assassination attempt, Kennedy now has "a lot of respect for President Trump for reaching out to me."
"Nobody from the DNC, high or low, has ever reached out to me in 18 months," Kennedy further said.
The latest news suggests that Kennedy will drop out of the race around August 25, or at some point before the end of the week, and endorse Trump, this according to unnamed sources.
Kennedy could appear on stage with Trump at an upcoming campaign event in Phoenix, though the sources reportedly warned that Kennedy could change his mind.
"I will not confirm or deny that," Kennedy responded when asked directly by ABC News if any of this is true. "We are not talking about any of that."
