Before we get into specific policies, let’s first establish the basic principles upon which those policies should be founded.

By basic principles, we mean our basic broad agreements as to what we the people consider desirable for our government to be and do in terms of our wellbeing and happiness.

THE PURPOSE OF GOVERNMENT IS TO HELP ALL CITIZENS TO FLOURISH AND PROSPER.

THE PRODUCT OF GOVERNMENT IS A SAFE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH ALL ITS CITIZENS CAN PURSUE THEIR MATERIAL AND SPIRITUAL GOALS WITHOUT HINDRANCE.

It is the duty of government to serve the people and help their honest efforts to thrive. The primitive idea that it is the duty of the people to serve the government is hereby CANCELLED.

The primary functions of government in carrying out that duty are practical administration so as to create the following:

Infrastructure that assists the people in the business of living their lives. This includes for example (but is not limited to) the duty to provide roads, sewage, sanitation, street lighting, affordable transport, affordable energy, basic healthcare easily accessible to all, free basic education {that helps the citizen understand, assimilate, evaluate,  use, relay. formulate and communicate data).

Law and order. Just laws applied equally and without fear or favour to ALL people with no exemptions whatsoever so as to protect honest people from criminal acts. This includes a swift, equitable and fair justice system dedicated to finding out the truth of who-did-what and penalising those found to have committed actual crimes.  Such justice must be fully accessible and applicable to  all regardless of wealth or social status. A crime is hereby defined as any action broadly agreed and understood to be harmful to others and which any person can recognise as not wanting done to them. Examples are murder, arson, causing bodily harm, theft, fraud, rape, child abuse, kidnap, blackmail, robbery. This will be discussed more fully later. Most citizens can agree that in order to be free from harmful acts upon them they must reciprocate – fair exchange – by not committing those undesirable acts against others. The role of the police is to discourage, deter and detect ONLY specific transgressions against that basic social contract and bring the perpetrators to justice. The role of  justice is  to get those perpetrators to desist those harmful acts, if needed by removing the perpetrator from the general environment.

The provision of a stable means of exchange (money) created and gotten into circulation free of debt. Such means of exchange must be of STABLE VALUE and in sufficient supply as to facilitate the smooth exchange of goods and services between producer and consumer. Obtaining money must be through the receipt of it in exchange for the provision of goods and services or freely-given as charity. The forms of that means of exchange must be digital, paper (cheques etc) or notes-and-coins. Government must make all the forms of money available. It is not for the government to tell any citizen which form of money they may or may not have. Notes-and-coins must remain available to the people on demand in perpetuity.

Full human rights for all people. In addition to swift, fair and equitable justice, the government must guarantee full human rights for all its people, again without fear or favour. And again, whilst every person must be guaranteed their human rights they are expected in exchange to protect the human rights of their fellows. The best expression of what those human rights are, is in the form of the UN declaration on human rights and its principles shall be enshrined in law and legally binding upon the government to observe and enforce.

The fair, equal application without fear or favour or disrespect of the protections and obligations of just laws and the basic principles of human rights to all individuals, groups and communities that comprise the nation is the primary way to bind the nation into an harmonious greater community. I must stress again that this is a two-way flow. Every person must be afforded the full protection of human rights and in exchange must apply those human rights to others.
