Eagles receiver Devonta Smith walked off the field under his own power in Sunday’s third quarter after absorbing a scary helmet-to-helmet hit by Saints defensive lineman Khristian Boyd, but he was diagnosed with a concussion and ruled out for the rest of the game.
Smith’s forward progress appeared to be stopped by multiple defenders on a short completion across the middle from Jalen Hurts when Boyd — trailing the play — drilled him in the head and knocked off his helmet.
No penalty was called on the play, but Smith remained down on the field for several minutes with Eagles players and coaches kneeling around him.
The 25-year-old Smith eventually got up and walked to the sideline, before the Eagles announced that he was being evaluated for a concussion.
Smith had seven catches for 79 yards before leaving the game.
