The Issue: Protests at the Democratic National Convention over its stance on the Israel-Hamas war.
It’s funny how Democrats oppose a fence at the southern border to protect Americans from an influx of illegal immigrants, but suddenly support the creation of a fence when it’s done to protect their own gathering in Chicago (“Gate-breaching anti-Israel rally,” Aug. 20).
There are seemingly more cops in Chicago now than at the border. But the question remains: Why aren’t the cops letting these protesters in like they did at the Capitol on Jan. 6?

Anti-Israel protesters clashed with law enforcement during the DNC.
The wealthy offspring of the hippies are back in Chicago. And the city’s Marxist mayor will hide, guarded by cops and the Illinois National Guard.

The boarded-up liberal sanctuary city Chicago — America’s crime capital — is hosting the DNC with the entire police force protecting attendees, all while regular folks are shot in record numbers or otherwise left defenseless against thousands of protesters.

So let me get this right: The Republican convention was basically riot-free, as the so-called Red-Green Alliance was nowhere to be found. But now all hell may break loose at the Democratic convention. That says a lot to me.
Some Democrats never came out and fully supported Israel’s counterattack on Hamas, which makes that group see an opening. First President Bide, and now Vice President Harris, will say and do anything not to lose the voting bloc from Michigan.
It’s sad that so many American voters will support this. Looking back four years ago, who would have thought this country would fall so quickly?
Elections have consequences, so be very careful how you vote. It’s not Democrats over Republicans — it’s survival.

I read that DNC attendees could get free abortions and vasectomies from a mobile truck parked in front of the convention.
I wonder if the 100,000 expected anti-Israel protesters would take up that offer — so that they can’t reproduce.

“This is the Vietnam War of our generation”: Such was the pompous pronouncement of Hatem Abudayyeh, executive director of the Arab-American Action Network, as he breathlessly described the inevitable attempt by anti-Israel groups and individuals to disrupt the Democratic National Convention.
For Abudayyeh to compare opposition in 1968 to US military involvement in Vietnam to today’s displays of hatred for Israel is absurd, yet predictable.
Historical accuracy and context matter little to those like Abudayyeh, who view the DNC event as a tantalizing opportunity to further inflame their supporters.

The protesters at the DNC are fighting against a neoliberal institution that has supported and defended the Israeli genocide in Gaza. They exemplified the courage necessary to speak out against our country’s corrupt political system.
More than 40,000 Palestinians are dead, per Gaza’s health authority, and the Democratic Party can’t be forgiven for its complicity merely because it virtue-signals in support of liberal causes.
Politics may be nothing more than a popularity contest for Harris and her corporate Democratic stooges. But if so, she’s in for a real reckoning come November when I and many other people skip this election cycle in protest of her complicity in mass murder.

If Harris can do so much, why hasn’t she done it in three years? All she did was cast the tie-breaking vote on big bills that many economists say caused inflation.
She ignored the border; we all know how that turned out. And neither she nor Biden held Hamas to the same standard they held Israel.
