An actor who was falsely convicted of murder by then-San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris has announced his intention to vote for former President Donald Trump, citing “the economy, the border, and inflation” as primary reasons.

Jamal Trulove spent six years in California’s toughest prisons after he was convicted of murder in a case prosecuted by Harris. In 2015, he was acquitted in a retrial in a case surrounded by accusations of police and prosecutorial misconduct from Harris’ office.

In a recent statement to the New York Post, Trulove announced that he will be supporting former President Donald Trump in November. “I can’t see myself voting for a woman who had something to do with me being framed for murder,” he said.

“When we look at what our life was like when Trump was in office we felt like life was good compared to right now,” the actor continued. “We wasn’t in no wars, right now we’re in wars. Illegals wasn’t coming in, but they’re coming in now.”

Trulove — who is perhaps best known for his appearance on the VH1 reality TV show “I Love New York 2″ — told the outlet that he supported the Biden-Harris ticket in 2020. “I put my differences aside only because I was being pressured by executives and a lot of my advisors, because I had I had contracts to do my documentary and obviously, I do film, and so forth and so on,” he told the New York Post, adding that he felt he would run the risk of being “blackballed” if he chose not to vote for Biden.

He went on to describe Hollywood actors and executives as being “all on the left.”

Just weeks after appearing on the hit VH1 show, Trulove was arrested and charged with the 2007 murder of 28-year-old Seu Kuka in a San Francisco housing project. The case hinged on testimony from a single witness, Priscilla Lualemaga, who identified Trulove as the shooter.

Deputy District Attorney Linda Allen praised Lualemaga at the time, stating that she will “never get her life back” while insinuating that she could be killed for speaking out. While Harris did not directly prosecute the case, she praised the efforts of her office as well as the testimony of Lualemaga, referring to her as a “brave eyewitness.”

In 2010, the actor was convicted and sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. Trulove appealed, and in 2014, the California Court of Appeals overturned his conviction, citing “highly prejudicial prosecutorial misconduct” by Harris’ office, including falsely mischaracterizing the danger Lualemaga was in.
