On August 24, the second annual See You At the Library Day will take place at hundreds of libraries across the country. Speaking with The Post Millennial, actor and author Kirk Cameron, the founder of the movement, said he hopes to spread messages of "good wholesome values" to America's youth in this year’s event put on in collaboration with Brave Books.

The first rendition of the event in 2023 saw over 300 story hours held across 46 states, with over 10,000 people attending. Cameron said he hopes to at least double the turnout from last summer, adding that as of August 8, "we already have exceeded the number of story hours and libraries that we had last summer."

Cameron noted that Democrat-led states like California, Colorado, and Minnesota have a high number of story hours planned for the day across each respective state.

"We want to give people something they can be a part of, and that is reading stories to children that'll teach our kids to love God and to love this country and to love their family. Give them the cure to the woke mind virus," Cameron said. He added that he hopes California Governor Gavin Newsom will attend one of these story hours "so that he can see the values that will lead his states back to a condition of blessing."

Cameron also said that he hopes to set a Guinness World Record for "the world's largest attendance for a wholesome family story hour." He said that he came up with the idea to go for the record after seeing that Guinness World Record reported on the largest drag queen story hour in June, which is Pride Month. He said they reached out to Guinness to invite them to the August 24 event to set the attendance record, but "they never called us back."

Regardless of Guinness’ attendance, Cameron said, "We’re going to set the world record anyway," and "millions of people" will witness it take place as "tens of thousands of Americans show up in libraries to sing and pray and read their choice of books of character and virtue to their children."

Speaking on how the movement has grown from Cameron getting denied access to libraries to read his book to children into the nationwide movement it is, Cameron said, "It’s hopeful" and "encouraging."

"It’s putting wind in not only my sails, but in the sails of millions of Americans."

Joining Cameron at the library he will be reading at on See You At the Library Day is Pastor John Amanchukwu, who has been traveling the country and visiting school board meetings in an effort to get graphic, inappropriate books out of children's libraries. Other notable figures hosting story hours that day will be Jep and Jessica Robertson from Duck Dynasty, who will be hosting an event in Louisiana.

Cameron noted that protests are already planned in opposition to the day. One such protest has been planned against the Moms for America story hour in Huntsville, Alabama at a public library. The protest group, Cameron said, was calling the movement "Kirkpocalypse."

"How hilarious is that? They're saying all these parents who want to read to kids and sing the national anthem at our public library is an attack on our rights,” he added.

Cameron called it "hypocrisy on level 10," adding, "They are crying censorship, censorship when these inappropriate books are being taken away, but they're the ones who now want to censor 100,000 people coming to the library to read about American constitutional and just good wholesome values."

Cameron said that those who want to get involved can go to Brave Books’ website to either find a reading in their area, or to start one of their own if there are none nearby. Those starting their own story hour session for the day can get a kit from Brave Books that will include things like books, flyers, posters, and American flags.

"We can’t just sit on the couch," read the news and get upset, Cameron said, "that’s not going to change things. What we need to do is be a part of something others are doing for the good or start your own."
