An attempted assassination at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania exposed the incompetence of the Secret Service and prompted the resignation of its director earlier this month.
But Donald Trump, who was targeted by the would-be assassin, refuses to be deterred by the threat.
Even after being advised to forego any future outdoor events, he said that he’ll continue to campaign as planned.
According to Newsmax:
Trump made the announcement in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, saying Secret Service has agreed to increase their footprint at future events.
“They are very capable of doing so. No one can ever be allowed to stop or impede free speech or gathering,” he wrote.
As of Saturday morning, the post had garnered close to 10,000 likes.
I WILL CONTINUE TO DO OUTDOOR RALLIES, AND SECRET SERVICE HAS AGREED TO SUBSTANTIALLY STEP UP THEIR OPERATION. THEY ARE VERY CAPABLE OF DOING SO. NO ONE CAN EVER BE ALLOWED TO STOP OR IMPEDE FREE SPEECH OR GATHERING!!!@realDonaldTrump Donald Trump Truth Social 08:20 AM EST…

Trump has maintained a defiant spirit since moments after he was struck by the bullet, including when he stood back up, pumped his fist, and called on the crowd to “fight.”
"America needs a strong leader. You have to admire Donald Trump, after getting shot, he was fist bumping FIGHT FIGHT. He's brave. He has courage."

As The Hill reported:
It’s unclear when or where the rally will take place. The Secret Service, which has come under scrutiny in the wake of the Butler rally, has urged Trump and his team against holding outdoor rallies following the shooting.
Trump held an outdoor rally in Butler on July 13. He was on stage for just a short time before gunshots rang out.
Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief, was killed in the shooting. An online fundraiser promoted by Trump and his allies in honor of Comperatore and two others wounded in the shooting raised more than $6 million.
The gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was also killed.
