Two years after the Supreme Court overturned nationwide abortion rights, the majority of voting-age Americans are unhappy with the decision.
A CNN poll published Wednesday found that 65% of U.S. adults said they disapproved of the high court’s 2022 ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overruled Roe v. Wade.
The court’s decision now has the support of 34% of adults.
About 49% of those polled wanted to see federal action to protect women’s abortion access, while 37% agreed the issue of abortion should be left to the states.
Abortion access has become Democrats’ rallying cry on the campaign trail with President Biden and the party’s other candidates pledging to make Roe a federal law.
SSRS conducted the CNN poll by surveying 1,212 adults from April 18 to 23. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.4%.
Since the high court’s Dobbs decision, which tossed the issue back to the states, more than a dozen states have outlawed abortion.
