After years of accusing Republican voters of being in a “cult” for supporting former President Donald Trump, it seems that many Democrats have found themselves in a cult of their own by ignoring President Joe Biden’s obvious inability to serve in the White House for four more years.

Biden’s cognitive decline has been apparent since his presidential run in 2020, but the legacy media and the Democratic Party have willfully ignored his numerous blunders. After Biden’s disastrous debate performance where he bragged about beating Medicare and stood slack-jawed while Trump spoke, many on the Left finally saw that the emperor had no clothes. 

However, a dedicated base of Biden supporters still insists that he should push forward. Whoopi Goldberg even said, “I don’t care if he’s pooped his pants. I don’t care if he can’t put a sentence together. Show me he can’t do the job, and then I’ll say, OK, maybe it’s time to go.” Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) said that loyalty to Biden is a “character test,” while Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) argued that Biden critics have decided to “betray the president.”

Biden loyalists are making fools of themselves by either lying about their faith in the president or revealing their ignorance about his incompetence. Moreover, Biden’s continued insistence on staying in the race is becoming sad to watch. He sent a letter to congressional Democrats on Monday that said, “I know better than anyone the responsibility and the burden the nominee of our party carries.”

He then bragged about winning the Democratic nomination “by a wide margin” and said that replacing him as the nominee would mean that “voters don’t have a say.” In reality, the nomination process was clearly organized to benefit Biden and every serious candidate recognized the folly in challenging an incumbent president. From the beginning, the only realistic way for a nominee to be someone other than Biden is if he stepped aside.

Every day Biden stays in the race is a gift for Republicans. It is hard to make the case that Trump is a “threat to democracy” when the Democratic Party is propping up an 81-year-old man who has to go to bed at 8 p.m. and needs picture guides to find his way to a podium.

More than anything, Biden’s refusal to drop out shows that he is just as power-hungry and just as narcissistic as leftists insist Trump is.
