For Trump, this trial would never be a question of his guilt or innocence. If it was, it would never have seen the light of day. It’s all about politics and persuasion.

Now that the conviction has dropped, that hasn’t changed one iota. We knew this would likely have to be overturned on appeal, but from the beginning, it was a question of managing public expectations.

What the left desperately hopes to accomplish is to stick a scarlet letter on Trump’s chest, claiming the same justice system they have loudly denounced as corrupt since at least the Obama administration, with a highly conflicted judge, was suddenly an honest broker in one of the bluest strongholds in America.

Riiiiight. In one magical moment, due process was suddenly unimpeachable. Forget the long list of due process violations the judge winked at in frogmarching us all to this ruling on the case that even the left was calling the weakest of all the trials against Trump.

The leftwing media is incapable of seeing beyond their own vitriol. They hate him and want him stopped… at ANY price. Even if that means suddenly claiming that the justice system they wanted to abolish 5 minutes ago is now as pristine as the driven snow.
