Republican businessman Dave McCormick has defeated incumbent Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (D-PA) to flip Pennsylvania’s Senate seat to red.
The victory expands the GOP Senate majority to 53, flipping four seats in the 2024 election.
“I am honored and excited to represent EVERY Pennsylvanian as our next Senator. We are so grateful. Thank you!” McCormick said Thursday evening.

“The Associated Press (AP) called the race for McCormick, who was leading by a little more than 30,000 votes,” Fox News noted.
However, the Democratic senator has yet to concede the race.
“I have dedicated my life to making sure Pennsylvanians’ voices are heard, whether on the floor of the Senate or in a free and fair election. It has been made clear there are more than 100,000 votes still to be counted,” Casey Jr. said.
“Pennsylvania is where our democratic process was born. We must allow that process to play out and ensure that every vote that is eligible to be counted will be counted. That is what Pennsylvania deserves,” he added.

From the Associated Press:
Republican David McCormick has won Pennsylvania’s pivotal U.S. Senate seat, as the former CEO of the world’s largest hedge fund beat three-term Democratic Sen. Bob Casey in Tuesday’s election after accusing the incumbent of supporting policies that led to inflation, domestic turmoil and war.
The victory pads Republicans’ majority in the Senate, which they wrested from Democratic control this week, and clocked in as the nation’s second-most expensive race while playing out alongside the presidential contest won by Republican Donald Trump in the nation’s premier battleground state.
McCormick, 59, recaptured a GOP seat in Pennsylvania after Republicans lost one in 2022, paying off a bet that party brass made when they urged McCormick to run and consolidated support behind him.
In an interview on Fox News shortly after The Associated Press called the race Thursday, the Trump-endorsed McCormick said “people want change.”

Per Fox News:
McCormick’s 2024 campaign was his second attempt at gaining a seat in the U.S. Senate. He lost the Republican Senate primary in 2022 to celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz.
The West Point graduate told Fox News host Laura Ingraham he’s “honored” to serve the people of Pennsylvania.
“I’m so excited. It’s a critical time for our country, and I’m honored to represent the great people of Pennsylvania — regardless of party, by the way, represent, you know, Democrats, Republicans, Independents,” he said. “My job is to represent every single one of them.”
McCormick added that he believes there’s no “mathematical path” for Casey to win based on the outstanding votes.
“I lost an election by 900 votes, so I know — I know you got to process it. I know Sen. Casey’s got to process this, and he’s been in elected office for 30 years. His family’s had a great history of public service, and so, you know, he’s going to have to find his way to the right answer,” he said. “But I think the math is indisputable, and I think that’s why the AP called it and why we’re confident moving forward to start preparing to be the next senator from Pennsylvania.”
