Donald J. Trump’s herculean election victory is, at the deepest level, a national repudiation of the progressive ethos that has driven American Liberalism into the extremes.
To avoid objective introspection, the Leftist media machine has been scrambling to ascribe the astounding defeat to the selection of Kamala Harris and a variety of political campaign technicalities.
As with alcoholism, the Left will dig a moat around their ideological precepts and employ all manner of psychological defense mechanisms to send blame to the peripheries instead of squarely on the underlying disease.
Just watch. They will writhe and wriggle to avoid this glaring conclusion: November 5, 2024 was a win of first principles – a great repudiation of America’s luge-like slide into socialism on the sled of the Democratic Party’s lurch to the extreme Left.
The bicoastal elites will work overtime to avoid these major rejections of their ideological tenets.
Four Major Repudiations
- Fiscal Collectivism. Fiscal policies and freedom of choice are inextricably linked. The diminution of individual freedom of choice is the necessary acrid exhaust of the Democrats collectivist fiscal engine.
The American principle of individualism, as built on opportunity and grit, has spent four years backed into the corner by the collectivist fiscal policies of the Democrat Party.
Reason demands that Kamala Harris would easily have won if Americans wanted fiscal status quo producing less choice and bigger government.
- Democrats banked on the ethics of insolence as a key leverage to remaining in power. They drew a hard line in the concrete by demonizing conservatives and anyone supporting Trump as white supremacists and misogynists, among other labels from their bag of invectives.
Intoxicated by the self-affirming fumes of moral superiority, liberals have run amuck armed with these shackles of ad hominem. Are you a conservative? Boom! Shackles applied. You’re now a privileged deplorable, a class 1 cultural felony.
Trump did not win because millions of Americans came out of a closet of bigotry. No, quite the opposite happened last night: Voters denounced these ludicrous aspersions with which Democrats have been gleefully tattooing people.
- Repudiation of propaganda. The mainstream media has tied Trump to their columns of societal influence for years by means of the aforementioned campaign of dehumanization.
As Trump blew past the 270 electoral vote mark, he became a Samson-like figure, shaking the foundational credibility of the mass media.
No doubt the media apparatus will continue its Pravda-like missional adherence to extreme Leftism, but given the results of the election, their self- appointed role as anti-Trump pit bulls is hardly a viable path forward.
- Repudiation of bureaucratic despotism. Trump’s victory is a categorical renouncement of both the weaponization of the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security against American conservatives and Christians, and the desertion of our borders.
The perception of safety is a macro driver in elections. If Americans truly believed that conservatives, and specifically conservative Christians, were “domestic terrorists,” then Trump never would have won. If Americans believe that border issues are “nuanced” and open border policies represent a moral imperative, then surely he would not have been victorious.
Reason shows us that no one votes for less safety.
The American Spirit Preserved
The election itself was not the only litmus test for the preservation of the American spirit. To use an analogy, this election is not like winning the Super Bowl and simply going back to work on Wednesday morning now that all is good.
Since the rise of Barack Obama, conservatives and Christians have abrogated their societal voices.
Our mindset must change such that vigilance and an acute desire to preserve liberty must never again become an abstraction. It is not a responsibility we can heap on the back of the unrelenting but aging Trump.
As we catch our collective breath, we must stop and thank God for giving this beautiful country another chance. What’s more, let us ask Him for the strength and mercy to recognize the gaping spiritual hole that atheism has dug into the hearts of our fellow Americans.
On November 5, we were reminded that fight, fight, fight! is still the embodiment of the American spirit.
Let us never forget that again.
