In Edmonds, Washington, an 82-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting two Trump supporters, Gina Powell and her friend Mary Jennings, at an intersection where the pair had been peacefully campaigning. A body cam video reveals the elderly woman admitting she approached Powell specifically because of her skin color and political beliefs, saying, “I want to know why you’re voting for Trump. That’s the only thing… because you’re brown-skinned.”

Powell, who was shocked by the confrontation, shared that she had never seen the woman before she approached. The incident, which occurred a day before the election, quickly escalated when the woman shoved Powell, striking her chin and sparking a verbal and physical exchange. Powell and Jennings were with a small group of Trump supporters, who had gathered for several days on the same street corner to wave signs and chant, hoping to rally support.

A witness who had stopped to discuss policy matters with the group described a deeply unsettling atmosphere as the altercation unfolded. “She made it very clear it was my skin color,” Powell recounted, emphasizing the emotional toll the event has had on her and Jennings.

Edmonds police confirmed probable cause for a hate crime and assault charges, reporting that the suspect attempted to push an officer while reenacting her actions. Powell and Jennings, though rattled, remain undeterred and committed to public support for Trump. Powell invoked the resilience Trump displayed in Butler County, Pennsylvania, during an attempted assassination, saying, “I got a little jab in my chin, so I’m not sitting down.”
