After running for president since his election loss to Joe Biden in 2020, Trump has won a second term in the White House. He defeated Vice President Kamala Harris after her truncated three month campaign following the Democrats' coup against Biden. The victory was called by Decision Desk with a tally of 270 electoral votes for Trump and 213 for Harris.

As the tallies came in throughout the night, state by state, it slowly then suddenly became clear that Americans had determined that the best option for the future of their nation was the man who they voted out just four years ago.

Trump was declared the winner of a few key states, including Georgia and North Carolina, and he won a wide swath of reliably red states, even a few that weren't always that way, like Florida. 

As the clock struck midnight, Harris' campaign announced that the candidate would not be speaking at her watch party at Howard University. Attendees began to leave the event, knowing that they would not achieve the victory they sought Tuesday night. 

Campaign spokesman Cedric Richmond told the assembled crowd that the candidate would not be speaking, but that she would "be back tomorrow" and that there were still more votes to count.

In addition to the White House, it has been projected that Republicans have flipped the Senate with GOP winners in West Virginia, Nebraska, and Ohio. If the GOP holds a majority in the US House, it would mean that the Republican Party holds all the power in the federal government.
