Senator JD Vance (R-OH), former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate, has responded to comments made by the billionaire owner of the Mavericks, Mark Cuban. Earlier this week, Cuban made an appearance on “The View,” where he insulted women who are supporting Trump by saying that the 45th president “never” surrounds himself with “strong, intelligent women.”
Vance said that he’s happy to have his wife, Usha, who he said was, “beautiful and smart and accomplished” join him down his current path into politics and potentially the vice presidency. “My wife is way out of your league,” he shot back.
“I’m maybe especially grateful to have her today, because I don’t know if you saw that Kamala Harris surrogate Mark Cuban said that the Trump campaign doesn’t surround itself with smart and accomplished women,” Vance remarked during a rally in Portage, Michigan, according to Politico. “And I thought to myself, ‘Well Mark, my wife is way out of your league.’”
Vance then added, “So is Melania Trump by the way, so is Susie Wiles, who is running the Trump campaign.”

It’s not the first time that the vice presidential nominee has had to defend his wife’s honor while out on the campaign trail. When popular social media influencer Nick Fuentes questioned him over his interracial marriage, he replied, “My view is, look, if these guys want to attack me or attack my views, my policy views, my personality, come after me. But don’t attack my wife. She’s out of your league.”
Politico continues:
Vance’s wife Usha — a Yale Law School alumna who left her job as a corporate lawyer to help with the campaign — has kept a relatively low profile since her husband joined the ticket. She’s regularly with Vance during his campaign stops across the country but does not speak in front of crowds and has done only a handful of interviews. She gave her first major speech at the RNC in July. Vance also said Cuban’s comments were a result of Harris not being able to defend the Biden administration’s record from the past four years.
“I wish that Mark Cuban and Kamala Harris and their entire campaign stopped insulting the people they disagreed with and maybe talked about Kamala Harris’ record a little bit,” Vance commented. “But the reason I think they’ve decided to insult people is because they don’t have a record to run on.”
It wasn’t the only explosive moment of the week Vance touched on during his Friday rally. Vance made the remarks while standing next to the Donald Trump-branded garbage truck the former president rode to a Wisconsin rally on Wednesday.
“We have a garbage truck behind us. Why do we have that?” the Ohio senator said. “Remember, from Hillary Clinton calling us deplorables, to other Democrats, saying that we cling to our guns and to our religion, to now Kamala Harris’ boss saying that Donald Trump supporters are garbage, these are people who hate their fellow citizens.”
On Tuesday, President Joe Biden referred to Trump supporters as “garbage,” a comment that immediately received intense backlash from critics and may have done irreparable damage to Kamala Harris’ campaign. In order to stem the tide of the proverbial bleeding, the White House pointed to the official transcript of the comment. However, it was later revealed the transcript was changed to add an apostrophe to the word “supporter’s.”
