Kiké Hernandez claims Dodgers didn’t even need to play after Fat Joe’s performance: ‘Already won’

Kiké Hernandez trolled, of all people, Fat Joe during the Dodgers’ championship celebration on Friday afternoon.

Fat Joe, a Bronx native who has been one of New York City’s more prominent artists over the last 30-plus years, performed prior to the Yankees’ World Series Game 3 loss.

The loss was in the first of three games at Yankee Stadium and put the Pinstripes in a 3-0 hole with the threat of a sweep.

Hernandez, the Dodgers utility man, says Fat Joe is to blame… or thank.

“Ice Cube came out in Game 2, and with his performance, we didn’t need to play the game, we had already won it,” Hernandez said at the World Series parade culmination event in Dodger Stadium. “Then we go to New York, and this guy, he used to be fat and he isn’t fat anymore. His name is Joe. He came out and sang, and we didn’t need to play anymore because after that performance, we had already won.”

Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly went as far as calling it the “Fat Joe curse.”

The smack talk caps off a week where Hernandez also took aim at Olympic gold medal-winning sprinter Noah Lyles.

“We’re here, World Series Champions — suck it, Noah Lyles,” he said, directed at the sprinter who has previously claimed NBA champions weren’t true world champions last summer.

Maybe Hernandez was just trying to get ahead of it.

Earlier this week, Chris Russo went off on both Fat Joe and Ice Cube performing at the World Series, so Hernandez wasn’t alone in his shade.

In the World Series, Hernandez hit .278, including a triple, and continued to be one of the team’s most consistent playoff performers, as he was against the Mets in the NLCS.

In that series against the Amazin’s, Hernandez hit .292, recording a home run and four RBIs.

In beating the Yankees in a five-game gentleman’s sweep, the Dodgers cashed in on their first World Series since 2020 and second since 1988.
