The Democratic Party and mainstream media have joined forces in recent days to denigrate President Donald Trump based on an obvious joke about Puerto Rico made by a comedian at his recent Madison Square Garden rally.
Despite efforts to label Trump and his supporters as racist over the comment, one new poll shows that the 45th president has opened up a lead over rival Kamala Harris among Puerto Ricans in Florida.
According to Florida Politics:
Trump is up by two points against Kamala Harris in the survey released by Cygnal and shared first with Florida Politics.
The survey was conducted between Oct. 26 and Oct. 28, encompassing Sunday, when the comedian “Kill Tony” said Puerto Rico was an “island of garbage” at the former President’s rally in Madison Square Garden.
Democrats linked those comments to Trump, but at least in this survey, the former President isn’t suffering collateral damage with the group maligned by the roast comic’s untimely routine.
The marginal lead with Puerto Ricans is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Trump’s strength and that of others with Hispanics in this poll.
News of the latest polling results sparked significant social media discussion:
Trump lost Puerto Ricans in Florida 66-34 in 2020. PA results were similar.
The most recent poll that dropped from Cygnal, conducted mostly after the Madison Square Garden rally, shows Donald Trump winning Florida Puerto Ricans by two points.
This is disastrous for Democrats.

Cygnal highlighted the significance of its poll in a report:
“What we’re seeing among Hispanic voters in the Sunshine state is a death knell for Democrats’ political hopes in Florida,” said Pollster John Rogers. “Among Hispanics, Trump leads Kamala Harris by 10 points, Rick Scott leads by 8 points in the US Senate race, and Governor DeSantis has a +14 net image.”
“This was supposed to be the year that national Democrats expanded the map and put Florida back in the swing state column—but Kamala Harris is underwater and the top concern for swing voters is inflation and the economy, followed by illegal immigration. The Democrat standard bearers aren’t popular with key voter groups, and neither are the left’s core policy proposals.”
Here’s what Trump had to say about the Latino community and Puerto Ricans in particular:
