Verdict: False
A scan using the website “TrueMedia.org” reveals the video contains audio generated with artificial intelligence (AI). In addition, a media forensics and AI expert denied the video’s authenticity in an email to Check Your Fact.
Fact Check:
A new Elon University poll indicates Trump and 2024 Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris are tied at 46% among registered voters in North Carolina, according to The Hill. The same poll shows that 9% of voters said they either support a different candidate or are undecided, the outlet reported.
The X video, viewed over 600,000 times as of writing, claims Trump made a “rally cry” to the UK.
“People of the UK, you have been dealt a hand that many would call unfair, unbelievable really. Look at what’s happening, the decisions being made right now, they’re hurting the very fabric of this great nation. Your jobs, your economy, your values [are] all at risk because of a leadership that’s not putting you first. That’s right, they’re not looking out for you,” Trump appears to say in the same video.
“They talk a big game but when it comes down to it, it’s all about them. But let me tell you, it’s not too late. You the people have the power. Stand up, make your voice heard and let’s take back control. Let’s make the UK great again,” he appears to add.
The claim is false. Check Your Fact conducted a scan of the video using the website “TrueMedia.org,” and the results indicate the video contains audio generated with AI. According to the results of the same scan, the tone of the speech “is motivational and charged, aiming to rally people to action, which is common in political speeches. However, the language is somewhat generic and lacks specific details or context that would typically be present in a real, substantive political address.” (RELATED: Does Viral Photo Show A Crowd Waiting To See Trump At Madison Square Garden?)
In addition, the claim is not referenced on Trump’s 2024 campaign website, his TRUTH Social account, or his verified social media accounts.
Check Your Fact also found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On October 28, Reuters debunked the claim, also indicating the video had likely been generated with AI.
Furthermore, Dr. Walter Scheirer, a media forensics and AI expert at the University of Notre Dame, denied the video’s authenticity in an email to Check Your Fact.
“This is a poor quality political video that appears to be in-part generated by AI. Specifically, the audio track contains ungrammatical phrasings with an unnatural delivery that one wouldn’t expect in professionally produced content. For instance, the line ‘It’s not too late.’ This, coupled with the video’s release without any evident endorsement or official signaling from Trump or his campaign makes it highly suspect,” Scheirer said.
Check Your Fact has also contacted a Trump spokesperson for comment.
