Tommy Edman had no use for the pair of overzealous Yankees fans who literally took Game 4 into their own hands Tuesday night.
“That looked ridiculous from my perspective,” the Dodgers shortstop said of the fans who grabbed Mookie Betts during a foul ball in the first inning of the Yankees’ 11-4 win in Game 4 on Tuesday night, according to The Athletic. “The guy was trying to yank (Betts’) glove off, pulling at his wrist, looked like he got ejected, and I’m glad he did. I’ve never seen anything like that. That was unacceptable.”
The Yankees’ first at-bat Tuesday night featured one of the more outlandish things you’ll see in a baseball game when Gleyber Torres lifted a foul ball down the right line that Betts caught right at the wall.
One Yankees fan — later identified as Austin Capobianco — attempted to either rip Betts’ glove off or, at least dislodge the ball.
While Betts attempted to wrestle his arm away from the fan, another grabbed his right hand in a stunning development.
Betts, understandably, did not appreciate the interaction in the moment.
The pair of fans were ejected for their actions.
The former Red Sox star later downplayed the incident and said he did not get hurt on the play.

“I didn’t even know he grabbed my hand,” he said. “It’s perfectly fine.”
He added: “When it comes to the person and play, it doesn’t matter. We lost. It’s irrelevant. I’m fine, he’s fine. Everything’s cool. We lost the game, that’s what I’m kind of focused on. We got to turn the page and get ready for tomorrow.”
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described the situation as “the fans got in the way and the umpires got it right.”
Game 5 is set for Wednesday night in The Bronx with Gerrit Cole hoping to keep the Yankees’ season alive when he faces Jack Flaherty in a Game 1 rematch.
