Following a recent interview with ABC News, Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance was praised for shutting down an absurd assertion from host Martha Raddatz.  After Raddatz downplayed concerns about illegal immigrant gangs taking over apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado, Vance asked the host to “hear herself” and reevaluate her comments.

As JD Vance has aggressively hit the campaign trail after Trump tapped him to be his running mate, the Ohio senator has been praised for his professional handling of hostile interviews where he offers brilliant rebuttals to their attacks.  After the recent interview with Raddatz, some have described Vance as a “rockstar” for how he rebuked her comments.

For context the discussion about illegal alien gangs was prompted by comments from former President Donald Trump about his deportation agenda during an event in Colorado. “We will send elite squads of ICE, Border Patrol, and federal law enforcement officers to hunt down, arrest and deport every last illegal alien gang member until there is not a single one left in this country. And if they come back into our country, they will be told it is an automatic 10-year sentence in jail with no possibility of parole,” he said.

Raddatz asked Vance , “So, do you support Donald Trump making those claims that the Republican mayor says were grossly exaggerated and have hurt the city’s identity and sense of safety? I understand what you’re saying that some people left behind. But he’s making these statements that the mayor is flat-out disputing.”

As Vance began to make his case to Raddatz, she interjected, attempting to fact-check him on the topic of illegal immigrant gangs.“Senator Vance, I’m going to stop you because I know exactly what happened. I’m going to stop you. The incidents were limited to a handful of apartment complexes, and the mayor said our dedicated police officers have acted on those concerns. A handful of problems.”

Vance immediately fired back, asking Raddatz to contemplate what she had just said.  “Only… Martha, do you hear yourself? Only a handful of apartment complexes in America were taken over by Venezuelan gangs, and Donald Trump is the problem and not Kamala Harris’s open border?” Vance said, stunned by the logic, or lack thereof, employed by the ABC host.

Footage of the incident from the interview quickly went viral across social media, where conservatives praised Vance for his ability to navigate hostile interviews and think quickly on his feet.

“I’d love for her to talk to the people in the apartment complexes and just let them know they should chill it’s only a handful of apartment complexes that were seiged,” another person said. “What better way to show America you don’t really care about the migrant crisis. I bet she wouldn’t want to be one of the “handful” targeted by foreign prison gangs. JD Vance is handling these propagandists with precision. Love to see it,” one user wrote.
