Former President Donald Trump dropped in on a barber shop in the Bronx, New York on Thursday to make a pitch to New Yorkers in the city.
The 2024 GOP presidential nominee took a campaign stop at Javiel’s Barbershop in the Bronx and greeted those men getting their hair cut at the time of the visit. He greeted the barbers as well as the owner who all had "Make Barbers Great Again" shirts.
As Trump went to drop in at the local New York business, security could be seen outside to ensure the stop went on without a hitch.
Trump, a New York City native, has long campaigned in different efforts for the classically deep blue state. The visit to the Bronx is one of multiple stops he has made in the borough of the Big Apple. Earlier this year in May, Trump held a rally in the Bronx, where even some left-wing commentators were surprised at the turnout. He is also reportedly holding a rally in New York's Madison Square Garden on Oct. 27.
The Garden has a capacity of 19.500 and has held other political events before, such as the Democratic as well as Republican National Conventions. He suggested the idea back in February this year. According to Real Clear Polling averages, despite the efforts, Trump is still down by over 13 points in the Empire State in comparison to Harris.
Trump's visit to the barbershop is ahead of Thursday's Al Smith dinner, a charity event hosted by the Archdiocese of New York that presidential candidates traditionally attend for some light jabs at one another in the name of a good cause. Trump has accepted an invitation to attend the event, however, for the first time in decades, Harris declined the invite, and has opted to deliver a pre-recorded message.
