Former president Jimmy Carter, who recently turned 100, has cast his early ballot.

According to the Carter Center, the oldest president to take U.S. office cast his ballot for Kamala Harris.

Carter filled out his ballot on Wednesday and mailed it to the Sumter County Courthouse near his hometown in Plain’s, Georgia.

Former President Jimmy Carter fulfilled his rumored wish of living long enough to cast a vote for Vice President Kamala Harris, according to the Carter Center.

The 39th president filled out a mail ballot that was dropped off Wednesday at the Sumter County Courthouse in Americus, near Carter’s hometown of Plains, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

“I think he feels good,” Chip Carter told the outlet. “It was a good morning for him and good for us that he got it done.”

Jimmy Carter had become the first ever former US president to turn 100 years old earlier this month. He is currently in hospice care.

The Kamala campaign is planning to harvest Jimmy Carter’s ballot today at the hospice facility where he’s being kept.

Someone in Carter’s physical and mental state is unable to vote. He’s non-verbal, can’t move, and isn’t even aware he’s alive.

Former President Jimmy Carter cast his ballot in the presidential race in Georgia on Wednesday, the second day of early voting in his home state.

He voted by mail, the Carter Center said, fulfilling his wish to live long enough to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. Carter turned 100 earlier this month, becoming the first former president in U.S. history to do so.

He has been in hospice care at his home in Plains, Georgia, since February 2023. Carter lost his wife, Rosalynn Carter, in November, after 77 years of marriage. The former president attended his late wife’s memorial service in a wheelchair.

Carter had told a family member that he was “only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris,” according to his grandson, Jason Carter, who recounted the comment to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in August.

The former president has lived remarkably long in home hospice care, where the average length of time for patients is 63 days, according to the National Institutes of Health. Carter has been in hospice for more than 19 months.
