While visiting Pennsylvania over the coming weekend, 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is expected to make a stop at a local McDonald’s to "work the fry cooker."
A source familiar with the matter told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Trump’s visit to the restaurant chain is part of an effort to combat Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ camapign messaging about working at a McDonald’s while she attended college.
It is currently unclear where in the state Trump will make his fry cook appearance, though KDKA reported that Trump will appear for a rally on Saturday at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Pittsburg for a rally, and will attend a Steelers-Jets game on Sunday.
Harris has repeatedly spoken about working at a McDonald’s while she was a student. Fact-checking website Snopes has deemed the claim "unproven," stating that "aside from Harris' testimony itself, there is no evidence (such as a photo, employment record or confirmation from a friend or family member) to independently verify the claim."
In a late-September speech, Trump indicated that he would visit a McDonald’s to work sometime in October. "I think I’m going to a McDonald’s in two weeks actually and I’m gonna work the french fries because I will have worked longer and harder at McDonald’s than she did if I do that even for a half-hour," he said, according to the New York Post.
Trump also took aim at Harris’ claims she worked at the fast food joint. "We don’t want to hear fake promises, even something like she worked very long and hard hours over french fries at McDonalds. She never worked at McDonald’s. It’s a fake story."
