Tom Brady’s long road to owning a piece of the Raiders is finally nearing its end.

The NFL legend is expected to be approved as a minority owner of the Raiders at the league’s fall meeting on Tuesday in Atlanta, according to ESPN.

Twenty-four of the league’s 32 owners will vote to approve or not approve of Brady’s bid after it was already reviewed and approved unanimously by the NFL’s finance committee.

Brady’s minority ownership appears to be a lock, as the committee reportedly would not present the bid to owners if it was not going to be approved.

Also, a source told ESPN that no one on the financial committee can think of the last time NFL owners voted against a unanimous recommendation by the committee.

Brady, who is also involved with Birmingham City Football Club and the Las Vegas Aces, is expected to purchase around 10 percent of the Raiders, alongside businessman Tom Wagner, from the team’s owner Mark Davis.

The initial deal was agreed to in May 2023 before adjustments had to be made due to the financial committee believing the offer was too discounted.

“We’re excited for Tom to join the Raiders,” Davis told ESPN in 2023 at the time of the initial deal. “And it’s exciting because he will be just the third player in the history of the National Football League to become an owner.”

The other two owners are George Halas (Bears) and Jerry Richardson (Panthers).

Brady has been in the first few weeks of his 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox as an NFL analyst, covering the game from the other side for the first time since retiring in 2023.

Brady will join an elite club of high profile former athletes to own a piece of a professional team, such as Michael Jordan (Bobcats/Hornets), Alex Rodriguez (Timberwolves) and Patrick Mahomes (Royals).
