Donald Trump has announced that upon taking office he will invoke what he called "Operation Aurora" in order to take on Venezuelan criminal networks operating on American soil. He spoke about the move on Friday from a rally in the Colorado city of Aurora which has been dealing with gang violence from Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. Trump further called for the death penalty for illegal immigrants who kill Americans and police officers.
Trump began, saying that the effort was on behalf of those who have lost their lived to violence caused by gang members from Tren de Argua and illegal immigrants who have come over the border to do harm in American communities. He brought a local resident up onto the stage who had shared footage of her home in Aurora, notably her door. She has multiple locks and blocks to prevent people from coming in but still people knock on her door, she said in the viral clip, and she's scared people could get in.
"To expedite the removals of these savage gangs ... I will invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798," Trump announced, adding that he will use it to "target and dismantle every migrant criminal network operating on American soil."
Additionally, Trump vowed that if gang members and violent illegal immigrants that have been deported come back across the border, he said that they would automatically get a 10-year prison sentence if he is elected to the presidency.
Trump also announced that if any immigrant kills an American or police officer that they will get the death penalty. "I'm hereby calling for the death penalty for any migrant that kills an American citizen or a law enforcement officer," Trump said. "With your vote, we will achieve complete and total victory over these sadistic monsters."
