Verdict: False

The claim is not referenced on Trump’s official website, his verified social media accounts, or his TRUTH Social account, and there is no other evidence to support the claim.

Fact Check:

A plane crashed into Tampa Bay on Tuesday following engine failure during takeoff at Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The six passengers aboard the plane were trying to evacuate ahead of Hurricane Milton, the outlet reported.

The Threads post claims Trump is purportedly offering “free lodging” to his supporters amid Hurricane Milton. “BREAKING: Trump offers free lodging at any of his time-shares (including Mar-a-Lago) to all displaced trumpers after hurricanes! Pass it on to all MAGA!” the post, which does not provide a source to support its claim, reads. Besides Threads, the claim circulated on X, the social media platform previously called Twitter, and TikTok.

The claim is false. The claim is not referenced on Trump’s official website, his verified social media accounts, or his TRUTH Social account. Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. If Trump was actually offering “free lodging” to his supporters amid Hurricane Milton, multiple media outlets would’ve covered it, yet none have. In fact, the opposite is true. On Oct. 9, Snopes debunked the claim. According to the outlet, social media user @gailendavid shared the claim on X, noting it was “misinformation.” However, other iterations of the claim circulated on the platform without featuring the “misinformation” label.

Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall in Florida “late on Wednesday night, local time,” according to BBC News.

Check Your Fact has contacted a Trump spokesperson for comment.
