Baseball great Steve Garvey — a Republican — is running for the U.S. Senate in California against Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff. Mr. Garvey has some advice for his fellow GOPers.

“With just about a month until Election Day, we are at a pivotal moment in this race. We’ve been gaining momentum since advancing in the primary. We’ve outraised Adam Schiff, climbed in the polls, and we now have a very real shot at defeating him,” Mr. Garvey said in a statement shared with Inside the Beltway.

It’s about time for this possibility to transpire, he noted.

“Our momentum hasn’t come a moment too soon for California. In the past years and decades, Democrat policies have brought California — and America — to its knees. There’s fear of walking down the street because of rampant crime, homelessness, and drug addiction. The cost of living is exploding and for the first time causing more people to leave California,” he continued.

“Vice President Kamala Harris, Adam Schiff and the rest of the Democrats don’t care one bit that Americans are having a hard time. I’d go even further to say they welcome the misery so they can keep folks down and dependent. And that’s why I’m running for Senate,” Mr. Garvey noted.

“We Republicans pulled our country out of the 1970’s Democratic malaise by electing Ronald Reagan. And I believe we can do it again by putting classic conservative values at the heart of everything we do,” he said.

TRUMP ON FOX

A Fox News event of note for Monday: former President Donald Trump will appear Monday on “The Ingraham Angle” to discuss how it felt to be back in Butler, Pennsylvania, the site of the July 13 attempt on his life. The former president revisited the town Saturday and was welcomed by a very energized crowd.

During his upcoming appearance on the network, Mr. Trump also will discuss Hurricane Helene’s impact on both the nation and the presidential election, among other topics. Host Laura Ingraham also will provide a look inside the rally itself — and offer insight into how the U.S. Secret Service prepared for the candidate’s return to the site.

Some clips of Mr. Trump’s interview have already aired on Fox News. In one of them, the Republican presidential nominee praised the care he received that day and noted a certain policy when a former president arrives at the hospital.

“The hospital was great. And I didn’t realize this — but when a president goes to an area, they close the hospital in its entirety. It’s ready for exactly this situation. I got there, doctors and nurses were outside — and no people. They literally close it, almost like they expect this. It’s a genius, but who would ever think that? And I was so impressed,” Mr. Trump said.

HARRIS ON ’THE VIEW’

More media news about presidential candidates: Vice President Kamala Harris will appear in studio Tuesday on ABC’s “The View.”

This marks her first live interview — and first talk show appearance — since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, according to host network ABC.

Ms. Harris will join co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro in the daytime talk show’s new New York City studio. She will discuss her candidacy, the state of the 2024 campaign, and the Biden/Harris administration’s accomplishments, ABC said in a statement shared with the Beltway.

“This marks Vice President Harris’ eighth appearance on ’The View,’ most recently appearing live in studio on Jan. 17, 2024,” the network said.

She is the second sitting vice president to appear on the talk show. The first sitting vice president was none other than then-Vice President Joseph R. Biden, who joined the cast on a “history-making appearance” on April 22, 2010, ABC said.

Mr. Biden most recently appeared on “The View” on Sept. 25. The show is now marking its 28th season on the air.

ON THE RADAR

“The 2025 March for Life is only a few months away – Friday, January 24, 2025 in Washington, D.C. – and we want to give a sneak peek on what we’ve got planned. One of the most important elements of the March for Life is capturing the spirit of the moment in a theme that will carry the message of the pro-life movement throughout the year,” the organization said in a message to Inside the Beltway.

“Many pro-life Americans have shared with me that it feels like our work has gotten harder since the overturn of Roe v. Wade. Some are asking themselves, ‘am I making a difference?’ We must not forget why — most importantly, who — we march for … the unborn and their mothers. The fundamental truths of our humanity and the inherent dignity of the person — mom and baby — are unchanging, and so is our devotion to this cause,” the message noted.

On Thursday, the organization will announce the theme for the 2025 National March for Life in Washington and set the stage for “what is to come for the pro-life movement.”
