Elon Musk said FEMA would not allow SpaceX engineers to deliver Starlink terminals and supplies to flood victims in North Carolina.
“SpaceX engineers are trying to deliver Starlink terminals & supplies to devastated areas in North Carolina right now and @FEMA is both failing to help AND won’t let others help. This is unconscionable!!” Musk said.
“They just took this video a few hours ago, where you can see the level of devastation: roads, houses, electricity, water supply and ground Internet connections completely destroyed. @FEMA wouldn’t let them land to deliver critical supplies … my blood is boiling,” he added.

“Let me know where the blockades are and we’ll have NC State Police move them out of the way. Already did it once, which is one reason why we have an escort now. FEMA has zero jurisdiction. Trust me. They’re not going to win this one,” journalist Nick Sortor commented.

“Yeah, it’s not just SpaceX. They won’t let anyone help!” Musk added.

“Just received this note from a SpaceX engineer helping on the ground in North Carolina. @FEMA
is not merely failing to adequately help people in trouble, but is actively blocking citizens who try to help!” Musk said.
“Hey Elon, update here on site of Asheville, NC. We have powered up two large operating bases for choppers to deliver goods into hands. We’ve deployed 300+ starlinks and outpour is it has saved many lives,” the engineer wrote.
“The big issue is FEMA is actively blocking shipments and seizing goods and services locally and locking them away to state they are their own. It’s very real and scary how much they have taken control to stop people helping. We are blocked now on the shipments of new starlinks coming in until we get an escort from the fire dept. but that may not be enough,” the message continued.
“This should shock absolutely NOBODY. FEMA is actively hindering relief efforts. Moreover, they’re claiming the Starlinks that I’ve personally delivered as ones THEY’VE delivered. They’re just running PR for the regime, and lying the entire way,” Sortor responded.

Musk revealed additional text messages in a separate post.
One of the messages said “they are about to shut down the air space” to regulate private helicopters they’re using to deliver Starlink and supplies.
“We need help to get word out about FEMA, we spoke with Ivanka and handed out starlinks with her yesterday but FEMA then showed up and started blocking us,” another message read.
“The largest concern for us here is the FAA throttling flights for our choppers,” an additional message read.

The Department of Transportation said “do not fly your drone near or around rescue and recovery efforts for Hurricane Helene.”
“Interfering with emergency response operations impacts search and rescue operations on the ground,” it added.
“Our goal is to make sure that funding is no obstacle to very quickly getting people the relief that they need and deserve. There’s also some safety issues that come up. For example, temporary flight restrictions to make sure that the airspace is clear for any flights or drone activity that might be involved in helping to allow those emergency responders to do their job,” Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said.
