New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams is in a world of hurt after he was hit with federal charges. 

But his problems all began because he ran his mouth. 

And New York City’s Mayor made one huge mistake that he’s going to live to regret. 

The Democrat Mayor ran his mouth about Texas and paid the price 

New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams was hit with a five-count federal indictment on corruption charges that date back to 2014 when he was Brooklyn Borough President. 

He was charged with bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy, and accepting illegal campaign contributions. 

Adams is accused of trading favors with Turkish businessmen and officials in exchange for travel and other perks. 

The Democrat Mayor claimed he was targeted by the Biden-Harris regime for speaking out about their border policies after his city became overwhelmed with illegal aliens. 

“Despite our pleas, when the federal government did nothing as its broken immigration policies overloaded our shelter system with no relief, I put the people of New York before party and politics,” Adams said. “I always knew that if I stood my ground for all of you, that I would be a target — and a target I became.”

Adams vowed to stay on as Mayor and fight the charges. 

His city’s problems with illegal immigration began once Texas started busing them to the so-called “sanctuary city.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott told the New York Post that he originally had no intention to send illegal aliens to New York City.

“Mayor Adams started criticizing me for busing them to New York, which I was not doing. But he kept criticizing me,” Abbott said. “I thought, ‘You know what? New York is a sanctuary city, if I’m going to get the criticism, I’m going to get the credit.’ So we started busing them to New York.”

Adams began complaining in the summer of 2022 that Texas and Arizona were busing illegal aliens to his city. 

But Abbott and then-Arizona Governor Doug Ducey claimed they weren’t involved. 

Texas busing program expands across the country 

Texas started off by busing illegal aliens to Washington, D.C. to take some pressure off the state and bring the border crisis to the doorstep of politicians in the Washington, D.C. “Swamp.”

Busing eventually expanded to major sanctuary cities like Los Angeles, Denver, and Chicago. 

Abbott said that his busing program made illegal immigration a topic of national discussion. 

“Because of that process people across the country began to understand this is not a Texas issue,” Abbott explained. “This is a United States issue. And it made them focus on the political issue, either at the city council level or all the way to the Presidential level.”

He told critics of the program that the problem began with President Joe Biden. 

“This is not a Texas issue,” Abbott said. “This is a United States issue caused by the Biden administration.”

Abbott stated that Texas taxpayers have been forced to pay the price for the federal government’s refusal to secure the border. 

“Coming out of Texas taxpayer pockets is far more than $10 billion of our own money to pay for border security, to deal with refusal of the Biden-Harris administration to secure the border,” Abbott said. 

Texas forced sanctuary cities far away from the border to have a reckoning with open border policies they supported.
