The Issue: The White House calling for a measured response after Iran’s bombing of Israel last week.
Iran responded to Israel’s multiple attacks by firing nearly 200 missiles into Israel, and as terrifying as this must have been, thankfully there was very little damage inflicted (“No-go for strikes on Iran’s nuke sites,” Oct. 3).
The question now is why President Biden’s administration is still demanding a cease-fire when we should be supporting Israel and its continued fight to defeat Iran and its proxies.
Any long-term solution needs to include a short-term plan to eliminate the thugs now in charge in these countries — which Israel has been pretty good at lately.
Israel said recently that it vows consequences for Iran. We should all trust Israel to execute its plans and assist the country as needed, as we have always done.

Israel has been attacked by Iran with hundreds of ballistic missiles. The attack was repelled by Israel’s Iron Dome and a US Navy support group.
It’s heartening to know we have military support groups protecting our allies. Our troops have been deployed around the Mediterranean region — including aircraft carriers and destroyer groups and fighter jets like the F-16. We have all these resources, and America’s military must support and protect Israel.

How do the Israeli people live like this? They are surrounded by designated terror organizations dedicated to the nation’s demise. It’s completely unfathomable.
Now Israel has to face Iran, not a border country, but nonetheless involved with Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis.
The only way for Israel to end this — or at least curtail the rockets, missiles and other attacks from Iran and its proxies — is to cut off the head of the snake. Iran finances and directs its proxies, and has now directly entered the fray. Maybe a direct attack on Tehran is necessary.

After Iran sent ballistic missiles into Israel, it gave Israel all the reason to destroy all of Iran’s nuclear-bomb capabilities.
It had to be done anyway, so Israel might as well do it before one of those ballistic missiles has a nuclear warhead attached. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must do what the toothless United Nations won’t.

Israel should take out Iran’s oil fields and military manufacturing facilities.
This would also send a message to China and Russia, who have directly or indirectly supported Iran’s goal of destroying Israel.

As usual, the response from our feckless leader Biden is for Israel to confine itself to “proportionate” attacks against Iran’s aggressions.
The problem is only overwhelming attacks will win in this case, just like every other case. If your opponent keeps getting up, the fight never ends.

Of course Iran launched lethal missiles targeted at population centers that, but for Israel’s defense systems and US military assistance, would have likely murdered thousands of Israelis. Any rational observer would admit that an extremely significant response is called for.
However, Biden’s pusillanimity should come as no surprise. He has all but forced Israel to fight its war against Hamas with at least one hand tied behind its back.
Moreover, Iran’s attack has exacerbated our fears that, should it eventually have nuclear weapons, it would be irresponsible enough to deploy them. Clearly, this is the worst possible time to have a craven president.
