The Miami Dolphins are sticking with Tyler Huntley.

Head coach Mike McDaniel said Tuesday that Huntley will get his second straight start at quarterback for the Dolphins when Miami takes on the Patriots during Week 5 on Sunday.

“The injury that [Skylar Thompson] sustained has been kind of labor-some getting back, so we’re planning on going with Tyler [Huntley],” McDaniel told reporters. “After reviewing the tape, there’s reasons for guys to be excited about that. While the outcome wasn’t nearly what we wanted offensively, there were some things to build upon that we’ll keep working through and we’re excited to do that tomorrow.”

Huntley struggled during the Dolphins’ 31-12 loss on Monday night, throwing for just 96 yards on 14-of-22 attempts, although he ran for 40 yards and a touchdown.

The Dolphins’ offense has struggled since losing starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa during their Week 2 matchup against the Bills on Sept. 12, managing just 15 total points in nine-plus quarters since he went down.

Tagovailoa suffered the fourth known concussion of his career during that game, which will keep him out for at least two more weeks, if not longer.

The Dolphins replaced Tagovailoa with Thompson as the starter during the team’s 24-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks a week later.

He left that game in the third quarter with a rib injury and missed Monday night’s game.

Huntley played 19 games (eight starts) with the Ravens over the past three seasons after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2020 before being signed off Baltimore’s practice squad last month.

Tim Boyle, who was in consideration to start Monday’s game, is currently serving as Huntley’s backup.
