Pinal County, Arizona, Sheriff Mark Lamb argued that the United States has told illegal immigrants that they will not be held accountable, including those convicted of homicide, through its handling of illegal immigration.
Recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement data found that there are over 13,000 illegal immigrants living in the U.S. outside of ICE detention. Lamb argued that those data underscore “just how severe” the issue is, adding that the country owes its residents to “do a better job” and that those immigrants should never have been allowed into the U.S. to begin with.
“They now feel emboldened to continue to go out and commit crime,” Lamb said on Fox News’s The Faulkner Focus. “Look at Tren de Aragua, they haven’t been able to stop them, they feel emboldened. What this sends a message to the people that would wish ill will on Americans that they’re not going to be held accountable, they’re not going to be returned to their country, and that’s a bad message to send.”
Lamb added that Vice President Kamala Harris needs to apologize for the “complete and utter disaster” that the border has been under her watch. He also suggested that her recent visit to the border was merely “a photo shoot” and that she has no plans to change her stance with border security.
The sheriff was also asked about why illegal gang members usually attack women and children, to which he responded that they are “cowards that hunt in packs.” He added that the gang members will target “vulnerable” people, whom it is up to U.S. leadership to protect.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) called on Senate Democrats last week to support her Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, which would deem non-U.S. citizens convicted of or who have committed sex offenses or domestic violence as “inadmissible and deportable.” She contended that if the Democrats’ motto is “we care about all women,” then they should prove it by supporting her bill to protect women and girls from illegal immigrants.
Earlier this month, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) rebuked the idea that Harris would be able to secure the border as president, comparing such a scenario to O.J. Simpson finding “the real killer.”
