Two people were gunned down in separate Southeast D.C. shootings this weekend, with deadly gunfire breaking out near Nationals Park moments before the first pitch was thrown.

Metropolitan Police said a man was mortally wounded Friday on the 1300 block of South Capitol Street Southwest as the Washington Nationals were set to host the Philadelphia Phillies.

Police said officers were flagged down around 6:45 p.m. and found Marc Butler Jr., of no fixed address, suffering from gunshot wounds.

The 28-year-old victim died at a hospital, according to police.

Authorities said a man was seen sprinting down South Capitol Street SW after the shooting.

Hours later across the Anacostia River, police said they heard gunshots near the 2700 block of Langston Place Southeast.

Officers arrived at a home around 2:20 a.m. Saturday and saw a man outside with gunshot wounds. Police pronounced Dee Monte Pernell Chase, 27, of Southeast, dead at the scene.

Another man and two women were seen in the area with gunshot wounds. All three were taken to a hospital, where they are expected to survive.

Police didn’t describe any potential suspects or what led up to the shooting.

Late Saturday night, authorities said a woman was shot on a street adjacent to the ballpark.

MPD said the shooting erupted around 11 p.m. on the Unit block of Potomac Avenue Southeast.

The female victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot, police said, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Surveillance photos released by MPD appeared to show a man, who was last seen wearing a black hoodie with khaki pants and black shoes.
