As WLT Report covered last month, former American Idol contestant and Grammy-winning singer Mandisa died at the age of 47.

A representative of Mandisa stated the award-winning gospel singer was found dead inside her home in Nashville, Tennessee.

The representative did not give a cause of death at the time but stated, “At this time, we do not know the cause of death or any further details.”

Now, an official autopsy has been released.

In the autopsy report, it was revealed Mandisa died from class III obesity.

At the time of her death, Mandisa weighed nearly 488 lbs.

Here’s what The Daily Caller reported:

An autopsy confirmed “American Idol” star, Mandisa, died from “complications of class III obesity.”

The Grammy award-winning singer rose to fame in 2006, on season 5 of “American Idol,” after finishing in 9th place on the competitive reality competition show. The autopsy noted that Mandisa was pronounced dead on April 18, after her friends discovered her body at her Nashville home, in a state of decomposition, according to TMZ. Emergency medical services arrived on scene and pronounced the star deceased at the age of 47. Mandisa reportedly weighed 488 pounds at the time of her death.

The autopsy report indicated that in spite of the fact that Mandisa’s body was located while in a state of decomposition, they were able to conduct a thorough autopsy to determine her cause of death. The report noted there were no signs of obvious trauma to the star’s neck, according to TMZ.

Toxicology tests were also run and the results showed nothing abnormal. The manner of death was therefore ruled as “natural,” according to TMZ.

Per People:

Mandisa’s cause of death has been revealed.

The Grammy winner and American Idol alum died of complications of class III obesity at age 47, according to an autopsy reported obtained by PEOPLE.

The report said the star was found dead in her home by friends on April 18, and that she “was last known alive approximately three weeks” earlier.

Her manner of death is listed as natural.

Class III obesity is a disease in which a person “has a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher or a BMI of 35 or higher and is experiencing obesity-related health conditions,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.
