Robert F. Kennedy Jr. got the audience laughing when he retold the story of his personal history with former President Donald Trump decades before he endorsed Trump against Vice President Kamala Harris.
During the Reclaim America Tour event in Glendale, Arizona, the Independent presidential candidate sat down with former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and was asked what he thought of Trump personally.
Kennedy said he’d known Trump for many years, noting that on two occasions, he sued him because Trump was trying to build a golf course in the New York City reservoir watershed. “And I sued him successfully to get him to stop that,” RFK Jr. said as the audience laughed.
Kennedy Jr. noted that his wife, at the time, had wanted to go to Palm Beach for Easter and was looking for a free ride because RFK Jr. told her he didn’t want to buy tickets for all their kids.

“I said okay. I didn’t think she was going to do it,” Kennedy explained. “Then she said, ‘I found a free ride.’ I said, ‘Who?’ And she said ‘Donald Trump.'”
At this point, the audience started laughing even more, before RFK Jr. told his wife, “I’m suing him.”

“And she said, ‘He told me he knows you are suing him, but it’s okay anyway,'” Kennedy said.
Kennedy said he ended up flying with Trump and his family and had a “great time.” He also said he still ended up “suing” Trump and the laughter grew.
“But after … the night that he called me after he got shot in Butler, one of the first things he said to me was, ‘You know, are you a religious person?'” Kennedy told the crowd. “I said, well I have a deep belief in God and a spirituality which is the central organizing force in my life.”
“And he said, ‘I think I believe in that, too, now,’” he added, noting how the conversations he’s had with Trump, the former president talks about his family. “He always makes me laugh.”
“He expresses in ways that I think are very unusual,” Kennedy continued. “His own affection for me. Which I also find touching.”
