Joe Burrow says his wrist is “absolutely not” impacting his throwing after videos circulated online that seemed to show the Bengals quarterback flexing his wrist during Cincinnati’s season-opening loss to the Patriots on Sunday.

Burrow, 27, didn’t appear to be aware of the chatter online and said that he “just drank water” when responding to questions about a clip where he was handling a water bottle in an odd manner.

That particular moment went viral and drew some concern from Bengals fans after the surprise Week 1 loss to the Pats, especially after a wrist injury derailed his 2023 season.

“What did I do?”  Burrow said when asked about it.

“I picked it up weird?” he asked as the reporter clarified the question. “I don’t know, I drank water. I can’t say I’ve seen that or know what anybody’s talking about.”

Burrow laughed at the absurdity of the chatter on social media.

He did contend that his wrist was moving in the right direction.

“It feels better this week than it did last week, than it did the week before, so it’s continually getting better,” Burrow told reporters, according to ESPN

Burrow has been listed on the Bengals injury report this week and ahead of Week 1 due to his wrist.

He tore a ligament against the Ravens in Week 11 last season, undergoing surgery in November and ending his season.

Burrow contended that his wrist wasn’t holding him back from making throws.

“That’s part of ligament injuries,” Burrow said. “If you don’t move it, you’re going to lose it, so I’m always moving it around, keeping it loose, keeping my mobility the way it’s supposed to be, so it’s going to continue to happen.”

Bengals coach Zac Taylor told reporters that he “thinks he’s good” when Burrow’s health came up without providing additional details.

The Bengals will face the Chiefs in Week 2.
