In a powerful post on X (formerly Twitter) on the evening of September 10, during the 2024 presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, former Fox News anchor and current podcast and Sirius XM radio show host Megyn Kelly sounded off on the ABC moderators for being biased against Trump.

As background, many online sounded off on ABC News and its moderators for seemingly helping Harris during the debate, namely by continually “fact-checking” former President Trump when he gave answers, but not doing the same to Vice President Harris even when she made obvious lies, such as when she spread the “fine people” hoax in one answer.

In her post, the host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” sounded off on  ABC News debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis, saying that they had created the most biased and unfair debate environment she has yet seen. She wrote, “These moderators are a disgraceful failure and this is one of the most biased, unfair debates I have ever seen. Shame on you @ABC.”

In another post during the evening, Kelly sounded off on ABC News and its moderators for only “fact-checking” former President Trump and letting Kamala lie at will was “infuriating.” She wrote, “The absolute gall of ABC to keep “fact checking” ONLY Trump while letting her lie in every answer is infuriating.”

Similarly, Kelly wrote that the debate was far easier for Kamala given that the moderators were “grinning cover” for her candidacy. She tweeted, “Must be so nice to have the moderators running cover for you as a candidate. Makes it so much easier.” Shortly after that, Kelly added, “When he scores a point they make sure she gets another bite at the apple.”

Kelly also wrote that the ABC News “fact checking” was creating a very obvious pile on against tht former president, writing, “Omg MORE FACT CHECKING FROM ABC – THIS IS THE WORST ANCHOR PILE-ON I HAVE EVER SEEN. 3 against 1” She also wrote, “How the hell is it a proper “fact check” to say *I* didn’t hear his sarcasm??”

Further, Kelly wrote that the questions the ABC News moderators asked were all about Trump and his various controversies and giving Kamala an avenue to attack him, saying, “Every single q is about Trump controversies – putting him on the hot seat on them and THEN A FOLLOW UP TO HER TO LET HER DUMP ON HIM FOR 2 MINS”

Making much the same point later on, Kelly roasted the way the ABC News moderators were asking the questions, writing, “This is the abc playbook: Moderators: ‘Mr T, you did or said smthg that was absolutely terrible. Aren’t you terrible? DT answers. To KH: ‘would you like to weigh in on how terrible he is?’ ‘Thank you.'”

One of the more egregious parts of the debate in terms of obvious moderator bias was when Kamala repeated the “very fine people” hoax that has been thoroughly debunked, including by Snopes, and the ABC News moderators didn’t fact-check her on that despite having fact-checked Trump on much more moderate misstatements.
