In a ruling Monday, Sean “Diddy” Combs was been ordered to pay $100 million in a sexual assault case brought by Michigan prisoner Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith. Cardello-Smith is doing hard time in the Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility and has accused Combs of drugging and sexually assaulting him at a 1997 party.

Cardello-Smith sued Combs for $100 million but when the entertainer didn’t show up for a virtual court hearing, the judge entered a “default judgment” against Combs, ordering him to pay the money demanded, TMZ reported.

Combs, who has been immersed in legal woes for months, has been told to pay the $100 million in ten monthly installments of $10 million each. The lawsuit stated that Cardello-Smith first met Combs at a Detroit restaurant and the two were drinking alcohol and smoking pot at the 1997 party. Cardello-Smith says while Combs was having his way with a woman at the party, he put one hand on Cardello-Smith’s rear end. He also claimed that Combs then gave him a drugged drink that made him fall unconscious.

When he regained consciousness, Cardello-Smith says he saw Combs engaged in sexual intercourse with another woman and the rapper informed him, 'I did this to you, too.'

The $100 million judgment follows a restraining order that Cardello-Smith raised against Combs in August, according to the Detroit Metro Times He wanted to stop Combs from visiting him in prison and to cease from allegedly offering him $2.3 million to forget the sexual assault allegations.

According to the Detroit Metro Times, the $100 million award could be the largest ever given to someone residing in prison. Comb’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo talked to the Daily Mail and claimed, “This man [Cardello-Smith] is a convicted felon and sexual predator, who has been sentenced on 14 counts of sexual assault and kidnapping over the last 26 years."

Agnifilo alleged that Cardello-Smith’s “resume now includes committing a fraud on the court from prison, as Mr. Combs has never heard of him let alone been served with any lawsuit. Mr. Combs looks forward to having this judgment swiftly dismissed.”
