“Seven people are receiving treatment related to the explosion at Mercy Health, with one patient in critical condition, a Mercy Health spokesperson confirmed,” reported Fox8.com.
“Those in the area reported hearing a loud boom that shook buildings, followed by smoke and the smell of gas.”
The Mahoning County Emergency Management Agency blamed the explosion on a “possible natural gas leak.”
Enbridge Gas Ohio released a statement sending condolences to victims, and noting the investigation is ongoing, writing, “The cause is not known at this time. An investigation will be led by the State Fire Marshal’s office, and we will assist in any way we can. This process can take time. Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by this event.”
This is a developing story…
