Police in Louisiana said they captured two escaped prisoners Monday morning while two other prisoners remain at large following a Sunday jailbreak.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said Avery Guidry, 19, and Travon Johnson, 21, were both taken back into custody shortly before 11 a.m. local time after authorities found them hiding in a dumpster behind a Dollar General Store in Amite.
Police said the two escapees, who were behind bars in connection with a 2022 slaying, joined Omarion Hookfin, 19, jailed in connection with the same slaying, and Jamarcus Cyprian, 20, in sneaking out of the Tangipahoa Parish Jail a day earlier.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards said the four prisoners slid through an opening in the jail yard fence during their recreation time Sunday.
