For just the 13th time in the 105-year history of the NFL, a regular season game is being played on a Friday.

Tonight’s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers is also the first Week 1 Friday night game in 50 years.

It’s also the first NFL game to be played in Brazil.

Basically, what we’re saying is that there’s definitely some NFL history being made tonight — and the only way to watch it is on Peacock.

Eagles vs. Packers date and time: When do the Eagles play the Packers?

The Eagles and Packers face off on September 6 at 8:15 p.m. ET.

What channel is Eagles vs. Packers on?

Eagles vs. Packers is a Peacock exclusive game, meaning it won’t be airing on NBC or any other network on television. You’ll only be able to watch it on Peacock, which requires a subscription.

How to watch Eagles vs. Packers:

The only way to stream tonight’s game between the Eagles and the Packers is with a Peacock subscription. In addition to tonight’s game and tomorrow’s NFL First Friday game live from Brazil, every Sunday Night Football matchup will be streaming on Peacock.

Right now, new subscribers can get four months of Peacock for $4.99/month ($7.99/month after the four month period) with the promo code TGIF when making a new account and subscribing.

Can I watch Eagles vs. Packers for free?

While Peacock does not offer a free trial, the streaming service is included at no extra cost in an Instacart+ subscription. Instacart+ comes with a two-week free trial.

Where is tonight’s Eagles vs. Packers game?

As we mentioned above, the Eagles vs. Packers are playing at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, Brazil.

Why is the NFL playing on a Friday?

The NFL doesn’t typically have games scheduled on Fridays; that’s because of the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961. The act was passed in part to protect the TV rights for high school and college football, which takes local precedence on Friday nights.

Per the act, the NFL cannot hold Friday games from the second weekend of September until after the second weekend in December. Since Labor Day was especially early this year (September 2), this weekend is the first one in September.

Has the NFL played in Brazil before?

No! Today’s game between the Eagles and Packers is the first in NFL history to be played in Brazil and South America as a whole.

About tonight’s matchup:

This Week 1 matchup between the Eagles and Packers is a tilt between two teams with kickoff weekend history on their side. The Packers have won the most kickoff weekend games in NFL history (59), while Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is one of three active coaches with a perfect Week 1 record (3-0).

The Eagles are set to play their first game since 2014 without center Jason Kelce, who retired in 2024 after 165 consecutive starts. Kelce was an integral piece of the iconic “Brotherly Shove” (a.k.a. “Tush Push”) play and the Eagles offense will look different without him.

Jordan Love is entering his second full season as the Packer’s QB1; last year, he threw for more than 4,000 yards and the second-most passing touchdowns (32) in the league.
