States and Cities Fight to Ban Ballot Drop Boxes Ahead of Election

With 59 days to go before Election Day, several states and cities are still fighting to outlaw the use of ballot drop-boxes that were implemented in the 2020 election, due to widespread concerns of voter fraud.

As reported by Just The News, among the states that are pushing to ban ballot drop-boxes are Ohio, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Such drop boxes had never before been allowed in American history, but were enabled mostly due to the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic, which some claimed made it more dangerous to vote in-person. However, the abundance of drop boxes, especially in big cities and other heavily Democratic areas, led to credible evidence of massive voter fraud, with operatives caught on-camera dropping dozens of ballots off at a time.

In Ohio, Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R-Ohio) announced on Saturday that only individual voters were allowed to drop off their own ballots at drop boxes, forbidden from using the drop boxes for anyone else’s vote. LaRose’s directive came after a federal court decision in July which partially overturned a state law enacting restrictions on who can deposit absentee ballots for voters who have been confirmed to have disabilities.

“[T]his directive provides that an assistant delivering a ballot for another must sign an attestation that they comply with applicable state and federal law,” reads LaRose’s directive. “Voter-assisted ballots must be returned inside the board office, where the voter assistant will be asked to complete the attestation form.”

LaRose has taken other steps to crack down on voter fraud, including a probe which discovered hundreds of illegal aliens who had been registered to vote, referring over 100 of them for criminal prosecution.

In Wisconsin, two municipalities in Waukesha County voted to ban ballot drop boxes in their respective cities. Following a ruling in July by the Wisconsin Supreme Court declaring that drop boxes could be used again in 2024, the city councils of Brookfield and New Berlin passed measures to ban them. Both cities determined that the continued use of ballot drop boxes would be unnecessary due to the pandemic being over, as well as difficult and inefficient for election workers to maintain.

In March, the Pennsylvania county of Westmoreland County voted to ban the use of ballot drop boxes, due to the noticeable decline in the use of such drop boxes in every election since 2020. Other counties that have stopped using drop boxes include Beaver County, Butler County, and Fayette County.
